Google Broadband

So google have announced plans to roll out broadband at super fast speeds (1gbt) to "select areas of the United States." They say that they will be offering competetive pricing and for broadband that fast I can't see why anyone would turn them down. If this service ever comes to the UK sign me up.

2. We review the site and see if it's relevant to our niche.

3. If we find the site to be significant we'll place a link to your site along with a logo(optional) on our affiliate page (http://www.dreamwarez.co.uk/affiliates/affiliatepage.html)

4. In return you place a link and logo to our site on your site. Alternatively, you can arrange a one-time payment to have your site on the affiliate page. This payment guarantees your site a place for at least 12 months.

Why join the program?

Further more, search engines (particularly Google) like backlinks. If there's lots of links to your site on the web, your site is more likely to be closer to the top of the search results. SEO is important in developing a successful site.

Windows 7 GodMode

Windows 7 comes with a useful hidden feature called "GodMode" It basically puts all of the control panel icons in one window for you. I've found it to be somewhat productive.

Here's how you do it:

1. Create a new folder anywhere you like (I used my desktop).

2. Name the folder: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

3. Open it up!

You now have access to all the control panel features in one window.

Top 5 Video Games 2009

The following is a list of the top selling video games of 2009 according to NPD:

1. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by Activision sold 11.86 million copies overall, with 8.82 million sold in the US, 237.5 thousand sold in Japan and 2.8 million sold in the UK.

2. Wii Sports Resort by Nintendo sold 7.57 million copies overall, 4.54 million in the US, 1.54 million in Japan and 1.49 million sold in the UK.

3. New super Mario Bros for the Wii by Nintendo sold 7.41 million copies. 4.23 million of these were sold in the US, 2.49 million in Japan and 687.3 thousand were sold in the UK.

4. Wii Fit Plus by Nintendo (..again) sold 5.8 million copies, with 3.53 millions of those selling in the US, 1.3 million in Japan and 968.3 thousand in the UK.

5. Finally, the Wii Fit sold 5.44 million copies, 3.6 million sold in US, 588.3k sold in Japan and 1.25 million sold in the UK.

These figures surprise me a little, as I only know one person who owns Wii Fit! Despite the Wii Craze sweeping my local area when it was first released. On the other hand, Call of Duty being at the top was to be expected. I'll post when statistics for the first quarter of 2010 are released, it'll be interesting to see if the gaming industry in the UK rises as we saw a slight decline last year.

Sony: Profits?

After many billions of pounds of lost income and three consecutive quarters of losses Sony have returned to profitability. This has been caused by them slashing their manafacturing plants and sadly, increasing prices. Still profit is profit and Sony needs any profit it can lay it's hands on right now. As recently as late 2009 forcasts were suggesting that Sony wouldn't return to profitability untill early 2011. Hopefully prices will go down soonbut with them losing money on every PS3 sold it doesn't seem likely that Sony are going to overthrow Microsoft or Apple on any hardware front. Hope they fully recover soon.

Locked out of Administrator User in Windows XP?

This is a common problem that I've come across - people forgetting the password to their admin user on windows xp! It's really very simple to fix. Here's a quick and easy way to get back in!

1. Make sure you're completely logged out. Login to a different user.

Note: If there isn't another user to log into, then do the following: From the login screen press Ctrl+alt+delete twice. This will bring up a custom login screen. Now just type "Administrator" into the username and leave the password blank. You're now on an admin account! You can change the password of your other account. If this doesn't work, type "Guest" into the username and leave the password blank, this should work!

2. Press Windows Key + R to bring up Run. (Or go to start, then run).

3. Type "Cmd" into the run dialogue box and hit enter to open a command prompt.

4. Type in "Net users" and hit enter, this will show you all the users in your network.

5. Type "Net user
* " You'll then be prompted to enter a new password. Do so and hit enter. Done.

iPad Webcam Speculations

Recently there's been some speculation as to whether the iPad will ship with an integrated webcam. A Kansas repair shop claimed they have a frame for the device containing a hole where the webcam could fit, but this really isn't reliable or trustworthy information at all. With all the secrecy enshrouding the 0.5 inch tablet, I really don't see how a small shop in Kansas would get their hands on repair parts for it, despite the fact that the device wont be released for another month or two. I'm very doubtful of this so called proof. However, it is entirely possible that it will come with a camera and it wouldn't surprise me.

Wired.com released this image in an article of theirs, made of it what you will:

Personally, I'm undecided as to whether or not it will be, but as I said, it wouldn't surprise me. What do you guys think?

App Review: VNC Mocha Lite

I recently downloaded this app onto my iPod touch after looking at other options in the App Store.

Some I found to be very expensive and so I downloaded this to test it out. For a free app this is amazing. There are no ads and within a minute of downloading I was connected to my machine without any problems. For anyone who doesn't want to pay for this kind of functionality this app is a must. I know that andy has a £14.99 VNC app that he swears by but to me it isn't worth it. For anyone looking for a VNC app this is a great trial.
